The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Summer was cold and soggy here on the US/Canadian border, but September has been beautiful. I managed to take the camera out a few times lately to record the fabulousness of it all.

Today, behind the Last House. Fun on the tire swing.

The flying pig was an auction find. I added him to the broken down manure spreader behind the barn, ooops, I mean, "in the sculpture garden." Move over Marcel Duchamp.

Barn roof with bird.

What could Monet have accomplished if he'd had a digital camera?

Jay Peak, waiting for snow.

darn - wish i was visiting the relatives in the state. that time of year, the in-between of seasons, is one of my favorites.

it's the pause, the catch of breath before the onslaught of boots, wool and tar paper with battens starts.

love the new banner - very clever!

I want that pig! It wold look perfect in my garden. Give my neighbours something to look at besides the increasingly scruffy grass.

Now I forget. Is that mountain in Quebec, or our you facing some other direction?

Cheers.

Now that's a view. How dreamy.

By the way, I gave you a blog award! You can pick it up at my blog and do with it what you please. The usual thing is to announce it to the world that you got one and pass it on, but if that's not your style (it can seem weird!) you can just take a look and nod approvingly while nibbling on some saltines. And I like to play by my own rules anyway so I have no interest in passing along the rigid requirements!

Deborah - I'll bet your VT relatives are raving about the weather here - well, since they are from VT (born and bred, I take it?) raving is probably not their style - nodding approvingly at least, I hope. Having been born and raised in Schenectady, with an NY ethnic mix, I can manage a rave. The great weather is continuing apace.

Proj - Just let me know when you are coming and I will launder three pillow cases and some sheets for you. How do you take espresso? The regular coffee machine broke so we limit ourselves to the concentrated version. Steamed milk is on offer.

Madame - They had a more or less life size scrap metal pig (no wings, though) that had orange ears and went for about $50. I coveted him, but didn't have the nerve to buy. (Husband...) There were also a few other flying pigs, some rabbits (loved those) and a turkey or two. The auctioneer said that the guy who made them has died "so there won't be no more." If there are still some flying pigs in his sale room, though, I'll let you know.

R- That's Jay Peak and it's solidly within the US - although it is the northernmost ski hill in the continental US. I can't actually see it from my house - there are some other hills in the way - but it's only a few miles from home. The Canadian ski hill that we can see from the back is Owl's Head, which must be about the southernmost ski hill in Canada.

Denise - I am racing to the Swelle Life to get my award. I love to get prizes (of any sort - others, please take note!) so thank you, thank you.

Beautiful!! I like the idea of a sculpture garden. Does our old swing set count? :<) Or what about the former duck house that sits in the woods 'cause Tom is sure we can use it for something.
