The Best Advice You Ever Had...

My candidates:

"Do what you want to do, or do what you should do, but don't do nothing."

"Take Latin."

"Drive slow in parking lots."

What about you?

I have been semi-busy this weekend, trying to take that first bit of advice. I did watch a couple of episodes of Spongebob just now, and believe me when I tell you that isn't what I wanted to do, nor what I should have done.

And Now for Something Completely Different

Also, I have been thinking of one way to solve the state tax revenue problem. Place a confiscatory tax on "creemees." Everyone in Vermont, probably all of New England, eats bucketfuls of this stuff all summer. I don't think they're allowed to sell it as "soft ice cream" because I am not sure a cow ever had anything to do with it. It is good though. And we are all hooked.

Thanks to the few people who still may be stopping by here. The old blog has languished of late. I haven't done as much reading of others as I like to do either. I will try and catch up later this week. Best wishes for a wonderful week.

have you "done" the maple creamees at morse farms or bragg's? our absolute fav when we are in VT..

I like "Only the Mediocre are at their Best" - that's a quote source I have to look up...

Meanwhile, I tell myself "never stop trying to learn something; whether you are successful or not, even in the trying you will gain"...yep, that's from the horses mouth, fer sure...

all sorts of things happening on this end - hope you can wander over.

Hi! I've never tried the creamees but I had wonderful icecream at Boehringers in Pennsylvania last summer.
There is still a lot of summer left! Have a nice time!

What on earth are 'creemees'? You do open my eyes to an America that I never knew existed. If it's close to ice cream, I owe the state a lot of money. Have a great week too.

Have nothing in your home that is not functional or that you do not know to be beautiful

I try to live by that - which does mean having to ask stray teenagers to leave sometimes

I love your banner photo - but I think white text would be even better

Deborah - Thanks for the comment. Nice to have someone who speaks Vermont drop by. I haven't had the maple creemees at Morse Farm but I think I had one at the Orleans County Fair last year. It was good. I will stop round ASAP.

Christina - If I ever get back to PA I will try to remember that name. Thanks.

Mme - You nailed it when you said "close to ice cream". They are frozen and sweet and ice cream like - actual components are unknown to me. Still they can be had at most Vermont general stores and lots of gas stations and such places for about $1-2. No big tax - yet.

Lulu -excellent advice all the way around. Please see the banner. Do you charge a consulting fee? I hope not.

Best advice: Don't shortcut trails. I learned this the hard way.

We have "custard" here which sounds like Vermont "Creemie." The most famous local place to get it is a stand in St. Louis called "Ted Drewes." Marvelous stuff. During the summer there's a 30 minute wait at the window from about 1:00 PM to close at midnight.

Cheers.

A teacher of mine once offered this, which I have offered to many students of mine as well: "Work hard, play hard, learn hard, grow big and wear glasses if you need them."

Creemees are truly a mark of summer. I had what I fear might be my last of the summer tonight. Morse Farm maple ones are, I agree, the best.
